IBN Biotech develops bio-based process solutions for water, wastewater, and solid and semi-solid organic waste streams

Wherever organic material, fats, oils, proteins and solids, limits performance. The same underlying technology supports municipal treatment plants, industrial facilities, anaerobic digesters, cooling systems, farms and livestock operations, adapted to what each application actually needs.

How It Works

The Base

IBN's technology is a nonionic surfactant base combined with the protein component of a purified yeast extract, a processed, non-living ingredient, not a living microorganism.

The Mechanism

Together they lower surface tension and accelerate hydrolysis, breaking organic material down into smaller, soluble fractions at the molecular level, rather than simply dispersing it through the water the way conventional surfactants do.

The Result

That distinction matters: material that's chemically converted doesn't recombine and reform downstream the way dispersed material can.

Our Benefits

Every IBN product shares the same foundation, a protein-based surfactant system built around the same core mechanism. But the composition and ratio of that system, and the specific nutrients included alongside it, are adjusted for each application, tuned to the challenges and outcomes that matter most in that system. Not every application needs the same part of the mechanism either: oxygen transfer matters in aerobic treatment plants, pools and livestock slurry storage, but not in an anaerobic digester, where added oxygen would work against the process, or in a cooling tower, where bulk oxygen is managed as a corrosion risk rather than something to increase. IBN is built around this, not a single product repeated across every application, but a formulation and mechanism matched precisely to what each system can actually use.

IBN Biotech works with specialised partners to extend what our technology can do. With ALPS Ecoscience, IBN-AD integrates with Hydrodynamic Cavitation and the modular SMASH pretreatment platform for anaerobic digestion, opening up fibrous and lignocellulosic feedstocks that would otherwise limit conversion.

The same protein-based surfactant and hydrolysis mechanism behind large-scale municipal and industrial installations is what supports IBN-Pool, available for home and commercial pools. Scale changes, the underlying chemistry doesn't.

IBN's technology supports physical and process-related conditions. It is not intended to function as a biocidal product and does not carry biocidal claims under EU Regulation 528/2012. Where a system also requires microbiological control or disinfection, IBN works alongside that programme, not instead of it.
